I'm going to be limited to the amount of physical detail that can be added. Paint jobs are fine but if I start cutting away sections it is going to affect the structure and multiply the built time. The most important factor is that they have to stand up to combat. All the energy from smacking the dowels together will transfer to the handles. The need to be structurally sound with no weak points. I plan to have the stunt handles filled with a silicone filler. On top of that I will need to duplicate any details on the hero versions to their stunt counterparts. There are 9 lightsabers to be built in total - that's a lot of build time! :)

Good point. Better to keep them as simple as possible. Design isn't the only way to personalise a saber...

Don't forget the button. It doesn't look like a lightsaber until it has one of those somewhere... :)

Also, I still think the above looks too 'clean'. I know we can grunge it up at the end, but a few exposed circuitry or wiring would give it more personality (like the example you showed me) and give it that 'old world' feel.

Don't get too carried away - I still hve to build them! hehe. The emitters themselves will probably not have much detail - like the ones from the old movies. The combat LS's will have dowel running through them and you won't see the detail thru the rotoscoping. The hero ones will look better but again, little detail will be seen on film.

So yeah, thinking the emitter shrouds for each saber should all be unique to the wielder. Will mock up some ideas today and email them to you.
