Lightsaber Parts

by Sneeki on January 25, 2010

Here is the first lot of parts for the initial 3D lightsaber design.  The largest parts are shaped from PVC pipes and connectors.  The silver grip fins are aluminium framing and the rest are misc hardware parts.  You can get an idea of how it goes together from the last picture.

Once it is assembled and painted it should look pretty spiffy.

Nice work man, looking good. You must have some super strong glue!

It’s not even glued yet. I can’t glue it together until I’ve made the combat models cos I need to take measurements. Argh – I just want to glue and paint! hehe. Some of the pipe fits pretty snug which is great. For the rest I have PVC glue, super glue, screws and spit. :)

what are you thinking for the paint? Vader’s is a chrome handle with black parts. Maybe we should reverse that idea and have mostly black with a few silver parts? Are you able to render the design in 3d with different colours?

I was thinking the same thing. After you said Mako should have a dark LS I thought all black with chrome detailing and scuff marks. I’ve uploaded some black 3D pics to a new post “Mako Black Lightsaber”.
